So I have a field that shows the date created, but sometimes I need to change that date cause I use to for a time I send a W/O to a vendor.

basically I am using a date created formula to show the time I send a ticket to a vendor, but sometimes an associate will select the wrong vendor. I need a way to make the date created field to have a calendar pull down so I can change the date.

Is that possible?

You may not change any of the built in fields. But no problem.

Just create a field called [Date Created Override] as a date field.

Then make a formula for the [Date Sent to Vendor] as

IF(not isnull([Date Created Override]), [Date Created Override], ToDate([Date Created]))

It was not 100% clear in my mind if you were looking to capture the time of day as well as the date.  I assumed just the date.

Just the date. I can use this to make one for the time.  If I understand it that is.

Hmm So I put the IF after or befofre the Date Created override?

So its suppose to override the date created date correct? When I try it out it just put a red dash through the [Date Created] field.
Sorry, I am not understanding your question.  Did you follow the instructions I suggested?  Did you set up two new fields?

Two new fields? I only created the [Date Created Override]

and used the [Date Sent To Vendor]
The native built in system field for [Date Created] should remain named [Date Created].   It will be field ID #1 in the field list.  if you have renamed that field to be [Date Sent to Vendor} then rename it back to be [Date Created].

Then set up a formula date field  called [Date Sent to vendor] with the formula I suggested.

Alright.
So I made a [Date Created Override] made it a simple date field
And I made a field called [Date sent to vendor] and used your suggested formula.
I didn't create any other fields.
Is it all working now?

No. It give the field to change the date, but it doesn't actually change the date on the time sent to vendor.
Can you post your formula for the [date sent to vendor field].

Here is for formula
and yes the [Date Created Override] is the correct name of the other field, and its a simple date field.

If(not IsNull([Date Created Override]), [Date Created Override], ToDate([Date Created]))
Are you saying that when you put a date in the override field, that the formula does not recalculate?  That sounds impossible.

Oh so the [Date Created Override] is just another field that can act second date? So is that formula you created necessary?

I'm starting to get confused.
The overide field is where you enter your override override.  The formula then will use the override if entered, else defaults to the date created field.  That way you can have just one correct field for all your reports.

Huh.. Well hasn't worked until just now.. Not sure why.. But it just started working... I swear I checked in like everytime I messaged you.

Well thanks for your help. Im going to go bury myself in shame.
Its OK, you will get the hang of it once you do a few formulas.
