Meltdown & Spectre: What Quick Base Customers Need to Know

What are Meltdown And Spectre?

Security researchers have recently found out that the mainCPU found in most modern computers has a hardware security bug,  a designflaw in the hardware that has been there for years.   It's a big dealbecause it affects almost every computer, including our laptops (both Mac andWindows) and the servers which power our product.

These bugs, named Meltdown And Spectre, allow maliciousprograms to steal data that is being processed in computer memory. Normally, applications are not able to do that because they are isolated from each otherand the operating system. This hardware bug breaks that isolation.  So, ifthe bad guys are able to get malicious software running on a computer, they canget access to your passwords stored in a password manager or browser or evenbusiness-critical documents.   Not good.    On thepositive side there is not evidence that these vulnerabilities are beingactively exploited.

What Is Quick Base Doing About This?

Quick Base has reviewed any exposure to Meltdown andSprectre vulnerabilities in the systems which power the Quick Baseplatform.  Working with our best in class vendors have identified all relevantpatches and are in process of applying the necessary updates and patches to oursystems while being careful to understand any performance implications.    In addition, Quick Base has taken steps to ensure that, internally, we are up-to-date on all mitigation patches with regard toworkstations as well as all devices used by personnel.
