My normal Form is quite complex. I want to be able to provide a link to a simplified version (e.g. when taking a telephone enquiry) rather than just specify by role.

My current plan is to have a toggle switch on the main form that triggers various rules that hide sections / fields. However, I have already set up a simplified form and it would be easier to just be able to bookmark that form from any role.

Each firm has a Firm ID number which is listed when you view your forms. If you want to make a URL formula button and specify an alternate firm, you may use this format.

Urlroot() & "db/" & [_DBID_of the table that you get from Advanced properties] & "a=nwr&dfid=10"

In the example above I am specifying the form ID number to be 10.

I'm not sure where you want to return the user to after they save, but let me know if it's not going where you want it to after saving and we can address that with just a bit more syntax.

Great - that is perfect - thanks Mark. Looks like I can just get people to bookmark that link too so all good.

Thx for letting me know.  You can also put a URL as a link on Dashboard.  So, for example click that link and observe the URL, then copy the URL and then edit your dashboard and create a button as a URL and just paste in that URL.  That way the link will actually be on the Dashboard of the app and not just in users private personal browser bookmarks.

Yes, good plan. However, I've just tried to add a button to my dashboard as a URL and i) it seems to only display as a URL (no link text option), ii) it seems to be crashing my browser when I try and edit it. Quickbase bug?

Highly unlikely a QuickBase bug!

If you Customize this page(ie the dashboard and click around that button it will let you customize the label for the link.  be sure that the URL you paste is the one from the actual link that you see in your browser and not the formula itself.

So you will add a Dashboard section if you don't already have one for a button bar or a Links bar, and then configure the button using URL as the type.

All working now - for some reason it was crashing my browser when I clicked on the edit button. Thanks again.
