Non-clickable field in report

I have a "Description" field that can be quite large at times. In reports this becomes unwieldy. I have used a Formula - Text field for reports that included HTML.

If(

Length([Description])>150, "<div style=\"height: 60px; overflow-y: scroll; cursor: default; z-index: 1\">"&[Description]&"</div>", [Description]

)

This works perfectly fine with 1 caveat; clicking on the scroll bar also clicks the whole row which then brings you to the viewing of the record. Is there a way to override this behaviour? Seems strange to not be able to disable whole-row clicking and forced to have a pencil and eye icon column.

You can set the report to not be editable and not be viewable. Then the record will not display when you click anywhere on the record (including your special button).

Then add you own little URL formula fields with links named like V and E as the first 2 columns of the report to allow the user to View or Edit the record, for when they really do want to View or edit the record.
