I have a summary field on a parent table the reflects the Maximum Record ID of the child records.

I'd PREFER for this field to reflect the record on the child table with the last date value for an manually entered field.

Context:

My Machines parent table has a Status table and a summary field which reflect the latest Status Update. We manually enter the date because we cannot always add status updates on the same day and often go back, review the status history and try to fill in the blanks. The problem occurs when we go back and fill in some missing status updates that occurred prior to another sibling for that machine -- then the older update is shown in the summary field because it has a higher Record ID.

Thank you!

No problem.

Make a Summary Maximum of date called [Date of Maximum Record]

Lookup that down to the children

Edit your existing summary maximum record ID field to include th extra filter
Where [Date of Maximum Record] = [Date]

I'm sorry, it seems like I'm doing something wrong.

I created a Summary field for the Machines < Status Events relationship which is the maximum of the date field and called it "Maximum Date of Status Records".

I created a look-up for this field in the Status Events table.

Then, in my Machines table I'm editing the "Maxmium Record ID# of Status Events" field > Summary Field Options > Field to Summarize > Only summarize records where the following is true:

I've picked: (Date) \ is equal to \ the value in the field \ ...

But the last drop-down menu only includes these three options: Machine Name, Notes or Reported By

Is your Summary field a Date/Time field, rather than a Date field.  You cannot match a Date to a Date/Time field.

Something is weird here.  If your [date field] in the status Events table is of Type "date", then the equal to the value in the field will only also offer up date type fields.  It's offering up text fields.  Do you have a field named like [date] but which is a text field?
