Prevent record change notifications from listing every field affected by edits?

My record change notifications are listing every field affected by a record edit, so, for example, if I change a record in my Machines table to the a machine as assigned to a different Associate, the notification email shows:

  • Related User ID change from A to B
  • User - Associate - FirstName changed from A to B
  • User - Associate Full name changed from A to B
  • User - Associate Office change from A to B
  • User - Associate email address changed from A to B
  • User - Associate Practice change from A to B
On and on (20 fields) -- but the notification rules are set to fire if only a few the fields change.

Even in creating a custom notification I don't see a way specify which field changes to list.

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks!

The options in the notifications for "specific field changes" only refers to the trigger for the notification itself, not the content.

If you have a few highlight fields that are the important ones, I'd make a custom notifications (rather than the 'default') that includes those fields in the email.
This type of notification is usually much cleaner and easier to understand by the recipient.

You can always include 'a link to the change record' as one of the fields to allow quick access to ALL the details.
