Report not showing up for certain roles

I am stuck at a weird point, apparently with access permissions. I have an assets table with two fields [Asset Managers] (userlist) and [Current Assignment] (user). I have combined these fields into a [Viewers] userlist field and verified that it works correctly. I use this field as a view filter for the table for most of the roles.

I have a report which is called My Assets with the filter that [Current Assignment] is the current user. When I test as a user with one of the roles that uses the [Viewers] field, no items show in the report (it works with a role that views all records). However, in test mode I can search for a record that I know should be in the report and it will show up in the search results.

I am unsure of what's happening here. Are there additional settings that prevent the report from displaying records?

You seem to be saying that you can view a particular record in your regular Role and a Rpo;le that has a Customer Permissions Rule based on the [Viewers] field.  

But you are saying that that record does not show in the report.  What other filters are on the report?

There are no other filters on the report which is what has me baffled.
You said there are no "other" filters.  What filters are there now?
