I need a new code page that is just a search engine like google

I want the search engine to look at all forms and the text with in each from, current QB search engines require to be exact or to use “AND” between words -- I want to remove the "AND". I want it to directly lead me to the answer instead of having to open a document. Can it have the "find" function just like in google? I want it to be able to launch the document directly.

As a start, are you aware that you can make an <ask the user> search on some attached file contains, i.e. It will do a keyword search within the text of a document.  The documents can be Word, excel, PDF, as long as they are text and not a scan.

I did have Dan Diebolt write some code for me that allowed for a search box on a Dashboard and it did exactly like you want, well almost.  In my case I wanted to search both the text on records and the attached files for words that begin with xxxxx and not have the users to enter AND between the words.  If that is what you are after, I can post his code and you can contact him to see how it might be modified to meet your needs.

But test that search within document first to be sure that does give hits as his method will rely in that working.  Like I said, it obviously cannot search a scan, but QuickBase does in fact index attached doducments so that they are searchable.  It takes a few hours for the document to be indexed, once posted to QuickBase.

Thank you for your comment. I have no idea about <ask the user> search. Would you mind telling me more about it? Another is that I will greatly appreciate it if you can send me Dan Diebolt codes :) Thank you so much for your help! :)
The code is highly technical, so contact me off line if you need one on one assistance with that.

As for the reports which ask the user a question, try building a report where the filter is

"Some attached file" contains the word <ask the user>

You actually type <ask the user> as the filter and when the report runs it will pause to ask the user for input.  You can filter where the response matches exactly with a word on the document, or you can set the filter for words that begin with <ask the user>
