  • 1.  Search looking for exact match even when not selected

The search on my dashboard is looking for exact phrase despite this not being selected as an option for the search. To make it search for two different words I am having to use the AND or OR operators is this correct? Seems odd to have an exact match option if this is already being done.

The problem I have is that this use of operators isn't intuitive to users

Have you tried the "Contains" filter on a report?

You can create a report that asks the user for a value. If you select, "Is equal to" QB tries to match selections made by the users exactly. Instead, try choosing the options "Contains".

You can also create a selection of dynamic filters that the user may click on to filter the information that displays in a report. This would allow your users to select values present in your data, and restrict an expand that data based on their selection.

I agree that it would be nice to have a third configuration settings for those search boxes so that they would behave more like a Google search where you can search on multiple terms which would be treated as an automatic AND separator.

    HI Marianne,

Our native search does make use of the AND and OR operators to help with searching as it does attempt an exact match by default. If you feel that these changes to search would be a beneficial feature in Quick Base, I would encourage you to submit feedback regarding this via our Feedback Platform - UserVoice - Which can most easily be accessed from the My Apps page in Quick Base by clicking on the orange Feedback tab or at http://quickbase.uservoice.com">http://quickbase.uservoice.com">http://quickbase.uservoice.com .  This forum is used by our development team to explore customer suggestions for enhancements / changes to the platform. Many of the items that have been suggested by customers have already been incorporated into Quick Base and I would encourage you to participate as well. Thank you very much for your time today Marianne.
