Select multiple tasks to create an invoice

I have a tasks table, which also has dollars assocated with that tasks for how much it costs. 

I have an invoices table where I want to be able to select multiple tasks in some sort of grid formation to add up the totals to create an invoice. It seems like this should be simple like a multiple choice picker or something but I just cant figure it out.

No problem.

The thought that you are missing is that you need to have a middle table called Invoice Tasks.

One Invoice has many Invoice Tasks.

One Task Master (sounds cruel I know), has many Invoice Tasks.

That middle table will have lookup fields from the Task Master and probably a way to override the std price and a way to enter the qty and then an extended line total price. 




The Invoice will use the Report Link field from the relationship to show an embedded table of tasks on the invoice.

Thanks, I got it working but now I think I opened another can of worms.. Now the financial information is kept in that other table "Invoice Tasks", I can embed it in Invoices but I cannot display the values on the main page for that table.

Can I create a total invoice field that sums the total from the Invoice Tasks table? I think maybe I could do it with a formula but I'm a novice with those when it comes to if/then statements.

Something like, if the the related task is the same, sum the total task amount.

No problem.  I assume that you have a calculated field for the Extended Line Price on your Invoice tasks. (for each separate line item)

Just go to the Relationship where 1 Invoice has Many Invoice Tasks, and use the button to make a Summary field of the extended line value and call it like Total Invoice Price.

That's the thing, each one is a separate record so I'm not sure how to do a sum on that...

In my Invoices table, I have the embedded "Invoice Tasks", each Invoice Task is a different record in it's own table so I just dont know how to total it in anyway other than using filters in a report.

I want a sum of the total value if the related invoice is the same...

See above.  You are overthinking this. :) Its not hard or fancy, just find the button to make the Summary field.
