I'd like to have a link button trigger a specific form and then open the native email button (on the top right). I've already tried the alternative options: to send this in a regular notification but that does not send the email directly from the user, and I cannot use mailto link because I need to send children records.

When I right click to get the URL address on the Email button it shows an API_GenEmailRecord call which totally works as a regular link - but I cannot figure out how to translate that link into standard URL/API call within the formula field.

If I can create an API call to accomplish both steps (1.open this record in this form 2. then open the email page) that would be best. If I can just get that API Email call to work, I can make the user to go the correct form first.

Thank you!!

When I click an mail button i see this URL
https://mycompany.quickbase.com/db/xxxxxx?a=GenEmailRecord&rid=53967

So you can just make a formula URL button to mimic that.

URLRoot() & "db/" & dbid() & "?a=GenEmailRecord&rid=" & [Record ID#])

 you can optionally add the parameter &dfid=xx to force a particular form.

Thanks Mark! I was so close! The editor tool kept telling me I had an error, even when I put in your formula, but when I saved it ended up working. Thanks again:)
