I have a table A and a field Person of type user.  This field Person has values from employee table column employee which being loaded using lookup.

Now I am creating a new record in table A using HTTP API call, in the process all the values that I sent are getting set this new record except the Person field which I described in the first statement.

1. Is there a constraint that doesn't let me update this field being of type user having values from a lookup field?

It would help if you posted your API  formula and also described your tables and Relationships and in particular what the Key field us of your person table, but it sounds like you may be trying to populate a lookup field. You cannot load data into a lookup field.

For example if the Key field of your Person Table was [Record ID#], then in your Table A you would need to populate the field [Related Person] and not [Person Name] which is a lookup field.
