I have a URL Button on my home page that opens the URL in the same tab. I am wondering if it's possible to open the URL in a new tab. As far as I can see, I am only able to specify that URL, not the ability to open it in a new tab.

There is an option for the Formula URL field -  "Open Target in New Window"

You also have to consider that each browser has it's own settings which determines how links should be opened (i.e. open in a new tab, open in same tab, open in a new window) Check your browser settings

Easy solution - Right click on URL Button, Open in a tab

I have been able to do this through a Formula URL field when working in tables, reports, forms. But I don't see how to do it on a Home Page.
I can train the users to do the right click, but I was hoping for a better solution.

The best way is to have a very small Text box element on the Dashboard.

It can even be in the side bar to keep it small.  Type the words to appear for the link, then highlight the words and use the chain icon to add in the URL and it will ask you if you want to open in a new tab or new window.
