I'm having trouble constructing this formula that primarily asks the question, if this User field is blank/not blank then check the box. Can't figure out the best way to handle nulls with a User field. Here is what I have so far:

If(

Trim(ToText([Secondary Account Director])="" and [Primary AD Percent]=1, false,

// If Secondary Account director is blank and percentage is 100% then don't check the box

Trim(ToText([Secondary Account Director])<>"" and ([Primary AD Percent] + [Secondary AD Split])<>1, true)

//If the Secondary Account Director is not blank and the Primary % + Secondary % are not equal to 100% then check the box

Thanks!

If(

IsNull([Secondary Account Director]) and [Primary AD Percent]=1, false,

// If Secondary Account director is blank and percentage is 100% then don't check the box

IsNull([Secondary Account Director]) and ([Primary AD Percent] + [Secondary AD Split])<>1, true)

You can use IsNull on any field type except the text field type "text" where you need to do it like you were doing it

with Trim ([ my field])<>""
