Why do I need to display formula fields on a form in order to use them to change another field?

I have several formula text fields that I concatenate and use in another formula text field. The final formula text field is set to be editable so users can slightly modify the final text before committing to the database. It's all very "real-time" dynamic as users are entering information in drop downs, these concatenate and then get pushed into the final editable field.

In order for this to work, it appears I need to display the formula text fields on the form. Not horrible, I put them on the bottom and my users can ignore them. But, wondering if there is a setting I'm missing that once set, I can remove these from the form.

No problem.

For form rules and also some features like Conditional drop downs, it's often necessary for the field to appear on the form.  So what I typically do it to create a section called "Req'd for Form Rules", and put any required fields in that section.

Then I put in a form rule to hide that section by using one of my data entry fields on the form (so as not to waste one of the precious 20 "derived fields" (ie lookups for formula fields) which can be used in form rules and make a rule that always hides that section.

e.g. where [Price] not equal to 999999999

Hide Section: Req'd for Form Rules

ie, Even if the field is hidden by a form rule, QuickBase still "sees" the field as it's on the form.

Great, thx for letting me know. (It would be nice if QuickBase was a little smarter and did not require this work around.  I have a channel where I can put a bug in their ear for the new UI.
