Custom Save and Close button
Hello everyone, This is probably a super simple solution but for the life of me I have not been able to get it to work. I am trying to create a custom button that simply saves the record on a form that has both the parent and the child records in edit mode. Example: A parent record form has an embedded grid of related child records. When the parent record is in edit mode, the grid of child records is editable, so that the user can add or modify the related child records. At this point, the parent record has already been saved, so the record ID of the parent already exists. All I want my button to do is to save any changes made to both/either the parent or the child records. I want this button to work exactly like Quickbase's native "save & close" button. Hello, I'm wanting to add an API button in a child table that would add a parent record and also add the parent record id to the related field in the child record. Basically the same thing that adding a record from a record picker does but pre-populate fields in the parent record. Is this possible? The high-level desired workflow: Add New Record (does not have a Record ID assigned) Add information into [Field A] Click button or link on the form that Saves the Record (thus creating a Record ID) Redirects to a URL that passes both [Field A] and the newly created Record ID Additional information: The URL this information is being passed to is an API to an external system (not QuickBase) I'm unable to use the built in QuickBase webhook functionality because the URL being directed to is an internal network server. The browser on our devices has certificates created to make this server a "trusted" URL so we can navigate to it directly within the browser, however QuickBase attempting to reach our server using a webhook does not have a certificate and does not trust the location, thus it cannot be seen I am able to get the "Save and Redirect" portion working using build found in this thread, however I'm unable to pass the newly created record ID because at the time the formula link is being generated, it doesn't exist:https://community.quickbase.com/communities/community-home/digestviewer/viewthread?MessageKey=c59408cb-2abc-4bd8-94cf-e4e487fc7e7d This is the closest existing thread I could find requesting the same functionality, but am no where near getting it to function:https://community.quickbase.com/communities/community-home/digestviewer/viewthread?MessageKey=5cf176ce-f70c-4a33-915c-f43db707d774 Any ideas?? ------------------------------ Scott Robertson ------------------------------15Views0likes1CommentMulti-file Upload
Using magic buttons to upload multiple files and it is working great. I have one app that I would like to do the same but the files have a type associated with it. For example, I need to upload 10 files and chose the file type as "drawing" or "email". Any suggestions on how I do that? ------------------------------ Sarah Burres ------------------------------11Views0likes1CommentFormula URL Redirect to Report
Hello, I have a formula URL I am using as a button on a report to allow the user to add a new record. Once they save the record is there a way to redirect them back to the report they started from? Currently, when i click save and close it redirects me to the saved record view. I have tried adding & 'rdr=" & URLEncode(URLRoot() & "db/" & & "?a=q&qid =130" ) and also have tried just putting the direct link for the report into the formula but neither change the behavior when the new record is saved. ------------------------------ Thanks in advance, Jennifer Paschal ------------------------------11Views0likes2CommentsURL Button to Preview File
I have a file attachment and I'm looking to make a button for the user to preview the file attachment. I found an old thread about this suggesting the following, however when I click that I get a url cannot be found web page. Also, it opens in the same tab as quickbase, and I am hoping to open in a new tab. Can anyone help? Hey QB Community, I'm looking for some help...I'm using a formula url button to allow users to submit a record while in View mode. When clicked, the formula checks a Submitted checkbox as true.I'm trying to require a numeric field to have a value if it is null when the button is pressed. I tried using a form rule "When [Submitted]=true and IsNull([Number]), require [Number]". The record saved without requiring [Number]. I tried a formula in the custom data rules -If([Submitted]=true and IsNull([Number]), "Error Message.") I received the error message below when I did this. Both options worked when I opened the record in Edit mode and manually checked the 'Submitted' checkbox, without using the button.I assume it's because the button is checking Submitted at the same time I'm wanting it to see if there is a value in Number. An easy fix is to change the button to a multiple choice or checkbox. But I'm trying to make the button work. This was the error message...anyone know where I can find the definition of error codes? This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below. <qdbapi> <action>API_EditRecord</action> <errcode>88</errcode> <errtext>Custom data rule failed</errtext> <errdetail> Custom data rule failed: Please enter a value into the Vacant Sq Ft Data Entry field. I have a declined button where when you press it, the status will be changed to declined. However, I put in a rule where a status cant be declined without a decline reason. Currently, when the button is pressed it will bypass my rule. Is there any way I can make my button change the status to declined and then go to edit mode, so I can choose a decline reason? ------------------------------ Endy Lu ------------------------------5Views0likes4CommentsFormula Button to Save a Record, Generate Record ID & redirect to a different page
