Add Search Bar to Form

Hi,

My users frequently navigate back and form between apps. Usually, when they navigate back to an app, they want to immediately search all records on a specific table in that app. Unfortunately, by default Quickbase is returning them to their last viewed record in each app, meaning they have to return to the home page each time in order to use the search widget.

Is there a way to add a search widget to a form? Ideally the functionality would be identical to the search widget on the home page, for ease of use.

Thanks

There may be an advanced way to accomplish this, but it definitely sounds like a great product idea. Please add this on uservoice and you have my votes.

I'll wait on that a bit to see if someone with more experience than you or I comes up with an already-existing solution. If I do end up entering it into uservoice I'll send you the link for sure.

Alex...Please don't make personal remarks. We all hope to keep this as professional as possible. You can talk about your experience, but don't comment about others' experience.

Sorry, that wasn't meant as a personal remark.
  • How are your users navigating back and forth between apps?

    What I am seeing here:
1.the users are viewing a record on a form in App A
2.click the app banner tab for App B and navigate to a record on a form in App B
    3. click the app banner tab for App A - which takes them to where they left off in App A

We can create a formula url button to take you where you want to go from app to app, but we need to define the targets.
Is it always the same Table from App A?
Is it required to navigate to a specific report or table default in App B?

Perhaps you can expand on the use case for me, and I can help you.

They're just using the app banner. If there was a specific page they always navigated from I could just use a formula url, but they just click back and forth with some frequency.

Thats fine, but it sounds like there is a specific target they always navigate back to, some table that they search in.

If you need them to be able to navigate to app A table 1 default from anywhere they are in App B, then you could make use the custom branding to define a link to that table default or report. That way, there is a link in the banner bar to navigate directly to the target, rather than being field on a table dependent.

That is the situation, yes. I didn't know you could use the branding page to do that. How would I go about creating such a link? I'm looking at the branding page now and I'm having trouble figuring out the terminology.
