Auto Import from Excel Resulting in Character Problems

I am using an auto import (.net tool that uses the QB API built by someone else) process to load records into QB from an .xlsx file. The file contains text fields that are coming over with some character corruption. For example, a single and double quote ' and " are coming over as â?  The text field is used for a narrative with comments from people so the quotes are important and are needed. This issue does not occur when doing a manual import using the same .xlsx file.

Anyone have any ideas? Font related maybe?

  • Noreen,

This sounds like an Encoding problem.   The .Net script needs some tweaking to make sure that the non alphanumeric characters such as ",% are parsed and Encoded to be imported.  I have had this problem multiple times with moving data in and out of QB.

You should go back to the original developer and discuss the issue.
