Can't modify Comma Separated Value report

I had created a report that lists all ZIP codes for our customers.  I changed the type of report to Comma Separated Values to see what that would output like, however that just downloads a CSV, it doesn't seem to actually display anything onscreen.

Now I cannot display that report at all to modify it back, it just downloads the CSV every time I click on it.

I had set permissions on the report to just me, and I can see it in the Reports & Charts list for my table, but if I click Organize it disappears, and if I go into the table settings and click on Reports it isn't listed there either.

How do I find my report again to modify it so it's no longer outputting CSV file?  My report worked well, but now it seems I'll have to create it again rather than just changing it back?  What did I do wrong?
  • I have managed to work-around to a fix - I opened another report and went to Customize on that other report, then pasted in the qid into the URL which opened the Customize on my CSV report.  I was able to change it back to default report type.

I am still interested to find the "proper" way to fix this, as this was very odd and I don't think pasting the qid into the URL can be by design the only way to do it?
  • Interesting. I have never created that type of report. I would recommend avoiding it, as you don't need it. I just use the regular default Table report type, and when I want a CSV, I go to the More menu and use Save as a Spreadsheet. The only thing I don't like about this is that there is an arbitrary 25 MB limit to the output file, so many times I have to get creative in which fields I add to the report for columns to try to minimize those fields that have lots of text.

Another way to "find" that report is to pick a field that is used in the report.  Go to the Field Properties, and click on the "Usage" tab.

That will show you all the reports that it is used for.

But I like they way Mike recommended to trick the system.
