Change field type from Text Lookup to a multiple choice

Is there a way use a Text (lookup) field also as a multiple choice field in a form? I have a field called 'Assembly Id' that is Text(Lookup). On my form, the user selects from a drop-down list the...

You cannot turn a single relationships into a multi select field to allow multiple selections.  You would need to duplicate the relationship and the user would select Assembly ID 1 and then separately Assembly ID 2.
