QuickBase used to have amazing in person annual conferences. They would fly in a lot of their key staff, and there would be customer testimonials, and a chance to be one on one in person with software engineers and Product Managers. It was also an opportunity to network with the extended ecosystem of Quickbase Solution Providers, (now, imho unfortunately) we are renamed, Quickbase Partners, who offer various add-ons and extensions to QuickBase, or do contract programming or more complex integrations.
For me, not surprisingly, it was the highlight of my year, and I would plan a trip to be in that part of the country to attend the conference and visit as a tourist whatever was worth visiting in that state. The downside for a lot of potential attendees of course was the cost. If you wanted to stay on site at the fancy convention hotel, the rooms were going to be $400 plus per night plus airfare, plus the convention fee itself, so a lot of companies wouldn't pony up that cost for their employees to attend and of course, there are Quickbase users in other English-speaking countries which are further away with higher airfares.
Then we had that lovely pandemic and it short notice. Quickbase did an amazing turn on the first pandemic year because Covid hit in like March and they had a convention in June that was completely online. They replicated the look and feel of the Empower convention, but did it virtually.
Since then, Quickbase decided to redirect their in person efforts more into regional smaller industry events, where a handful of selected top-tier Quickbase Partners get to exhibit and they tend to focus on the particular vertical, say the build industry, construction, and invite decision makers in, say, the construction business to come to the convention. They feel that's a better way to get new potential customers to understand Quickbase. As I can see you were rapidly coming to know, QuickBase has truly amazing capabilities, but it's a very hard sell to explain to Decision Makers who don't know what Quickbase is what it's capable of.
There is an EMPOWER event on May 8th, so block that day in your calendar and they will announce details closer to the date. It will be virtual, and we don't know yet if it will just be a 2 hour thing or a full day of content. Ideally, at a minimum, they recap the main new features that were rolled out in the past year, but more importantly, lay out the Product Development roadmap for the next two or three years, so we can all understand what their priorities are. They have put out a "Call for Speakers" (meaning real customers talking about their real world use case successes), so that is a hopeful sign that they plan more than a two hour event this year.
