Default to previous choice?

Is it possible to set a related field to default to whatever was selected the previous time a record was created?

My specific case:

A field tech adds an asset. They chooses a contract, then a conditional dropdown allows them to choose a base in that contract.

They will be adding a hundred or so assets at one base, then moving on to another. It would be nice if once the selected the contract and base, it defaulted to that until it was changed (when they move bases).

Is that possible? Extra awesome if I can set that default to be associated with a certain user. i.e., when that user creates a new record, it defaults to the last choices that specific user had saved.

  • Mike, this can be done, but it would take some setup and us the concept of a User Focus table.  I think the steps to set that up are beyond what can be responded to on this Forum. Contact me directly if you would like one on one assistance to get this working.

Will do. If it's not easily native, it will probably be on the back burner until I get the basic functionality working.  But I'll add it to the list...

now .. what is really easy to do s to have a button to copy a record.  You can see the effect by sitting on a record in view mode and using the More .. button to copy this record.  We cab easily control which fields copy forward and the more .. copy this record can be a simply URL formula button on one click..   If your users will literally be adding dozen if not hundreds of records, then every click counts.
