Dynamic Form Rule Not Firing On Save?

I have a Dynamic Form Rule that when the record is" saved", is suppose to check a check box field based on the state of  another field.....

However when the record is saved, the rule does not execute (even if the condition is met).
BUT....if I reopen or edit the record, make no changes to any fields and save it again, the rule is executed.

It is like the condition has to pre-exist to execute on save?

I have to be doing something wrong, it makes no sense to have a rule that is suppose to execute on the record being saved, but only works if the comparative is not modified during the add or edit cycle.

Can anyone help?

  • One quick thought: have you checked to make sure that all relevant fields you need, including any hidden intermediate formula fields, are actually physically on your form somewhere? Forgetting to do that used to trip me up occasionally when I got weird behavior with my form logic not working.

Thanks, as I looked at it, turns out I had a rule that depended on another rule..... so one rule had to build, before the other could execute.... it was in fact a chain.....  fixed and working like a charm, and simple.....
