Grid Edit A Report Link (child table)

When you grid edit a report link that is a child table, and you add items to the bottom, for others - does it automatically relate the items to the parent?

I seem to remember that it used to, and it does not for me anymore. Wondering if it ever did, and if what I am seeing is intended behavior?

  • Yes it normally does auto attach to the parent as long as you are editing on the form

      Mark,

When you say 'editing on the form', do you mean you need to launch into Grid Edit mode, from Edit Record mode, vs view record mode?

I mean when you are sitting on a parent record and you edit the parent record and the parent record has an embedded report link on it and the Form Properties is set to editable.   The embedded report goes into great edit mode but it will know who his parent is and you can add records in Grid edit and they will not be orphans.

I am pretty sure that if you were to be in view mode and click the grid edit button on the top of the embedded report (opening up a full screen in Grid Edit mode) if you try to add a record it no longer knows who the parent is and it will be an orphan.
