Highlighting Fields in PDF

I have a form that I PDF and send to customers. On that form are date fields. I want to highlight the blank ones to clearly show the customer what is missing but the row colorization does not show up in PDF. Any other way to emphasize blank date fields?

    I think that this may be due to a setting on your computer. Can you Try going into the print menu on your computer and look for an option to show background colors.
    I have a feeling that generating a PDF is really just printing and unless you enable show background colors the background shading does not show.
