I am not able to use custom report in dependent field.

Hi Team,

I want to configure a custom report "When used for data entry:" section of a field on a form Because it is a dependent related field then, it does not show that configured report.

It is working fine with the normal related field but not with the dependent one.

Any ideas?

Thanks in Advance!

  • Are you saying that Grid edit is not worming for you - is that what you are asking?  is the dependent field set to be the proxy for the field on which the relationship is based?

Yes, Dependent field is set to be the proxy for the field and i can't show the active contracts in the record picker.. If this field is not dependent then, I am able to do that..

Any ideas or another way of showing the records?

      Thanks,

      Gaurav

      Mark,

Did you get a chance to look at this?

I think I speak for Mark and myself when I say... What?

I think you have set that field to be "conditional" upon some other field in the form, and when you do that, it doesn't work.  Correct?
If so, make sure the "dependency" is on the form as well, even if its in a hidden section, it has to be on the form.

If you are trying to set the record picker or modify that report that is used for the "data entry" then you'll need to customize that report.

Who knows, I could be way off.

      Hi Matthew,

I have just checked and everything is there. It is working fine in normal mode. but when I try to do this in grid edit mode it won't.

Any ideas that why it is not working in the grid edit mode.

      Thanks,

Usually be default if one field (SOW Name) is conditional the report will automatically include the dependent field in the report.

Does the field that drives the dependency appear in the grid edit report?

Yes, as SOW Name is dependent on the Client field and I am using the same form in grid edit mode.

      Thanks,

Just to check back in, but make sure there are no filters on your report that you are using for the record picker.

Still having a hard time understanding your issue a little.
  • Yes, there is one filter on the report.

    Let me describe again.

I have two tables one is Client and another one is SOW Assignments.

one client has many SOW Assignment. I have created some SOW Assignment just for testing purpose (don't want to delete them).

So, I have created a custom report (excluded the test SOWs).

Now, I have created a form and set that custom report in the form element setting of SOW Assignments.

I have two fields one is Client and another one is SOW Assignments. SOW Assignment is a dependent field on the Client.

Now, it is working fine when I use to create a record through the form. But if I use in Grid edit mode It shows all the related record and columns which I have set up in the table properties, not from the custom report. (If I remove the dependency of SOW assignment fields from the Client that it's working fine).

I hope you got my point now.

If it is still not clear to you. I'd happy to take a call with you.

    Thanks,
    Gaurav
