Missing Field

I have a field in my application but my application is giving me the following error  "The following required fields are missing missing. Please contact the manager of this application and request these field(s) be put on this form for your role or they each be given  a default value".
It does not allow me to save the application.

The following required fields are missing:

 "ABATEMENT/RENOVATION CONTRACTOR", "."

 Please contact the manager of this application and request these field(s) be put on this form for your role or they each be given a default value.

 (The permit was not saved)

Please does anyone have a solution on how to resolve this problem.

      Thanks Mark for your response. The field is in the form and I have administrative privilege.  The default field is blank and I even made the field not required but am still unable to save the record
