No initial filter option for table

I created a new report exactly as the 'Default report' and it gave me the initial filter plus the ability to color code. I thought the first report didn't give me those options because it was the defalt report but I have another default report which did display the initial filter and color coding options.
I'd like to know the logic behind it.

I'm confused what your question is.  What do you feel is missing formthe setup for the default report. 

Note that the default report will have the fields and the sort and the Dynamic filter, but never allows for an actual filtered report.  That is not the purpose of the default report.  The purpose is so in the absence of anything more specific, Quick Base will use the default report for the columns and sort and dynamic filter, when making a new table report or drilling down from a summary report into details.

I duplicated the report then set it as default, instead of the QB default, and got everything I was looking for including initial filtering and color code option. Now I know the logic and what to do next time.
