Reporting on multi-select field options

I would like to report on the frequency that each multi-select option is selected.  At the moment everything I have tried reports a combination as a single value and I can't seem to separate them out as single options (not as a combination value).  Has anyone found a solution for this?

  • You will need to create a Summary field on a Parent record. On that Summary field, you would want to use Count and then put in a filter that says "Where [MultiSelect Field] Contains [Option 1]".

You will need to repeat this process for each Option you need to track.

  • A low tech solution would be to put the multi select field as a Dynamic filter.  Then have a summary report to summarize the records on something, (or even a table report) and then successively select the DF for each Multi select choice one by one.  I know it's not a report, but it would be a quick solution to just throw a DF on the report.

I just mention that because it is a very nice behaviour of the multi select field type that when you use it as a dynamic filter the individual choices are listed separately
