'Show Totals for This Field' Question

Question

Is there any way to have this option be at the report level, and not the field level?

Meaning, in some of my numeric fields I would like the total to show on some reports, but not others. It looks to me like this is a singular, global selection you have, but perhaps I am just overlooking something obvious.

I suppose I could create a mirrored field with no total to be showed, and use that one on other reports?
