HI Roxanne,
When you put an app into Sandbox it would lock the ability to edit the structure of the app for everyone. It doesn't prevent users from adding or editing records though. So users can continue to use the app for data entry while it is locked, they just aren't able to make other changes to the app overall. I have linked below a few help resources on the sandbox function and what you are able to change with a sandbox, etc. I hope this information is helpful.

So I have rolled out my changes and there is no longer a sandbox but I cannot make form changes or adjust roles or settings now that the app is live. How do you now disable the sandbox? I can only see those options once I start a new sandbox.

I had that same conundrum, initially. You have the sandbox feature enabled. In order to make a change to disable the sandbox you need to do it in the sandbox and then promote the sandbox to live.

I usually stay away from locking down the app and instead make a copy and work on it when it comes to major changes to app, test , document and then roll-out to production app during off-hours. Sometimes it good to play safe game.
