Trigger email to customer 1 day before activity

OK, so I've been trying to set up an auto email to customers to remind them of an appointment that's coming up. I find that I can only trigger the notification at the moment the activity is created or...

Reminders can only go to Users, if I am correct; however the QBCourier can simulate Reminders for you, for a very low monthly cost.  I am using this to send out reminders on fixed-days of a month (based on a report); so I think this could solve your problem.
