Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) has long been one of the most powerful—and most complex—topics in Quickbase.
Over the years, we’ve talked about ALM in many places: Empower sessions, webinars, blog posts, and deep technical discussions. We’ve built advanced tools like solution APIs and QBL that give teams incredible control over change management.
But through all of that work, one goal stayed constant:
Make ALM simple, approachable, and usable for every Quickbase builder—not just developers.
Built for Builders, Not Just Engineers
Not everyone using Quickbase comes from a software development background. Many builders just want a safe, reliable way to improve their solutions without risking what’s already in production.
That’s why, in 2025, we began building a native ALM experience directly into the Quickbase platform, designed to support a simple but powerful idea:
Separate building from using.
With the new ALM capabilities, you can now easily create Dev + Test + Prod environments — all in just a few clicks.
One Solution, One Lifecycle
At the center of this experience is Solutions.
A solution is a packaged group of apps and pipelines that work together. Instead of managing each piece separately, you can now build, test, and deploy the entire workflow as one unit.
What this enables:
- Mirrored environments for your full solution
- End-to-end testing of real workflows
- Clear, structured deployments from Dev → Test → Prod
No manual coordination. No guessing what changed.
Safer, More Transparent Deployments
Deployments are intentionally designed to protect your production environment:
- Changes can only move forward through environments
- Every deployment shows a detailed list of changes
- You can review everything before completing the deployment
- Full auditing tracks what was deployed, when, and by whom
All of this works in a collaborative model, so solution collaborators can build, test, and deploy together with confidence.
We’re in Beta—and Just Getting Started
We released the first version of these ALM capabilities into a limited access beta in December, and we’ve been steadily onboarding customers since then.
Right now, our focus is on:
- Improving stability and performance
- Refining the user experience
- Building highly requested features like:
- Access to production data in lower environments
- More flexible environment configuration
This is not a “one-and-done” feature. ALM is a product area we plan to continue evolving—guided by real customer feedback.
Join Us in Shaping What’s Next
The beta is currently available to Enterprise customers, with Business plan access coming soon. Long term, both plans will have access, with differences tailored to their needs.

We’re excited about where this is going—and even more excited to build it together with the community.
