Avoid missed project deadlines and centralize processes using our new, built-in document creation capability. It’s currently in open beta, and it will become generally available on October 31, 2024. It’s included on the Business and Enterprise plans. Background Quickbase is a work management platform that’s focused on improving productivity while reducing costs. And much of the work being run on Quickbase is complex. It often requires collaborating with several stakeholders across your organization and external folks as well. Vendors, partners, and customers all have a part to play and it’s important to get them the right data in the right format. Previously, if you needed to generate files like PDFs you had a few different options. You could purchase a separate add-on from one of our partners. Or you could use an older Word macro from Quickbase called Exact Forms. That tool has many limitations, especially for users on modern systems. And there was
We’ve been hard at work making it easier for you to generate PDF and Word documents, with the release of our new document creation feature. It provides a more modern and streamlined method for creating these documents quickly, built right into Quickbase. Therefore we will be retiring the Exact Forms feature. What is the timeline for retirement? On September 15, 2024, Exact Forms reached end of support. The only change that comes with this is that technical support for the Exact Forms feature will no longer be available. You can continue to use the feature as needed for now, although as with all unsupported features we do advise you to move to supported alternatives when possible (which are listed later in this article). In the second half of 2025, we will disable the ability to create new document templates using Exact Forms. Please note that we have no plans to bring Exact Forms to End of Life. So you will be able to continue using and ed
You probably hear it all the time – “in an increasingly fast-paced world.” But in this fast-paced world, it somehow feels harder than ever to quickly execute. You’re being pulled in a million different directions, with a billion distractions. Here at Quickbase, we call that work behind the work Gray Work. Heck, looking for a data point can become a twenty-minute-long ordeal as you shuffle through all your point solutions. What can you really accomplish in five minutes? As it turns out, you can do quite a bit. When the Quickbase team thought about our overall AI strategy, one thing kept coming to mind – how can we help our users get more value from the platform, solve more problems, and solve those problems more efficiently? We’ve done this incrementally so far, with features like building apps with AI Smart Builder, and or the ability to surface insights with AI Data Analyzer. But what we haven’t done yet is provide a way for you to do all those things in one place, at one time, wi
NOTE: New Nav was originally planned to be Generally Available on October 1st. Due to platform performance challenges caught by our engineering team, and in order to provide our customers with the best possible experience, Quickbase decided to delay the GA and address the identified issues from October 1. With those issues now resolved, the New Nav GA was rolled out on October 2nd. We appreciate The Qrew's patience on this rollout! Back in May, we introduced Quickbase’s sidebar navigation – a more user-friendly experience that allowed you to see (and do!) more of your work at once. Thanks to feedback from all of you, we were able to make some additional improvements in the last few months that continued to elevate how you interact with Quickbase. These include visual updates to more areas of the platform like the help and user menus, bug fixes, as well as some additional fit and finish flourishes. Want a refresher as to what’s changed? Take a few minutes to watch this video and meet ne

In our recent research study, The Gray Work Index: Our Productivity Gap in 2024, we found that over half of respondents (54%) say it is harder to be productive today than a year ago. Further, we found that 58% of respondents spend less than 20 hours per week on meaningful work that drives results. When it comes to manufacturing, you don’t have time to be bogged down by gray work or disconnected processes, like updating multiple spreadsheets or managing outdated paper processes. The need for seamless coordination across the shop floor, coupled with increased market demand and staffing shortages, requires that manufacturing businesses remain agile, efficient, and ready for the future – and you need solutions that support that. We’re focused on designing workforce management solutions that cater to your complex production operations and challenges. With ready-made Quickbase Pro Apps for manufacturing, you can connect your team, processes, and machinery for a comprehensive, uni
Across the country, states and cities are facing a wide range of crises and emergencies, like natural disasters, housing shortages, and migrant influxes, to name a few. Earlier this year, Vice President Kamala Harris announced $5.5 billion in funding to boost affordable housing, invest in economic growth, build wealth, and address homelessness in communities throughout America (1). In FY 2023, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), through FEMA, provided $355.1 million in funding to assist state, local, tribal, and territorial governments in developing their emergency management capabilities and for all-hazards preparedness activities. (2) Crises require a quick response, and the logistics of applying for and managing grants to address them can be challenging. Emergency response grants require substantial resources and coordination and can also tax the outdated systems state and local governments often use to obtain the funding they need. Effectively managing

Quickbase has a long history bridging the gap between the field and office, across many industries. For instance, we keep construction projects on time. We manage on-site installations. We track health and safety issues to ensure compliance. In 2023, we added FastField to the Quickbase family to transform your mobile workforce. FastField is a powerful mobile forms solution that adds capabilities like signature capture, as well as image capture with annotation, to streamline your entire field workflow. Two products, bringing larger solutions together. In a recent study, we found that 58% of people spend less than 20 hours per week on meaningful work that drives results for key projects. The rest of that time is spent searching for data, often buried in spreadsheets or piles of paper. We have a term for this wasteful problem: Gray Work. Quickbase and FastField are two products designed to work together to crush Gray Work. Try it out Haven’t seen FastField in a
In operations-heavy industries, you need to be able to reach your teams at any time, from anywhere. Not just for efficiency, but for overall safety and collaboration. In today’s always-on economy, workers out in the field have to be set up to receive information and updates in real time from the back office and vice versa. Otherwise, you’re going to be dealing with costly delays, constant miscommunication, and avoidable worksite injuries. Unfortunately, too many vertical-driven businesses aren’t equipped to deal with the modern, dynamic speed of work, and as a result, can’t keep up with demand. In 2023, Quickbase teamed up with FastField to address this challenge head-on. We formed a powerful partnership that bridges the gap between the field and the office like never before using advanced, but extremely easy-to-use, mobile compatibilities. Whether you’re in construction, manufacturing, utilities, or any industry where on-site data capture is crucial, FastField provides a versati

There’s no denying that many industries and companies are facing a labor shortage. Currently, over 25% of workers in manufacturing are aged 55+, meaning many of these folks will be looking to retire in the coming years -- and these experienced aging workers take with them a wealth of tacit industry knowledge that further widens the skills gap. As retirements occur and manufacturing capacity expands, some estimate that manufacturing could need 3.8 million new employees by 2033, but only half of these jobs will be filled (1), ultimately contributing to a growing labor shortage. In construction, over 21% of workers are aged 55+. Due to the physically demanding nature of the job, workers tend to retire at a relatively young age, resulting in a smaller group of older employees. It can also be difficult to recruit young employees into certain sectors of construction that require training and apprenticeships (1). In 2025, it’s expected that the construction industry wi
