Actions not connecting fields due to lookup

I am experimenting with actions to auto create records in other tables from one form. Currently I am experiencing issues where I cannot pass value to a field table __B because it is currently a text look up from table A that the form is intended for. So normally you would input [project name] into the table A form, save, then go to table __B and use a text look up to select it since it is referenced. Currently I am unable to pass the [project name] from the form for table A directly to the table B. I would like the text look up to remain in table B as some people start from there. It appears in actions they want you to be pair referenced fields with referenced fields. Is there any way around this? Sorry, if this was confusing.
