Conundrum with desired realm change and existing QR codes

Our company was merged and we may consider updating our realm address. There are a number of places this becomes a bit of work, but the real issue is this:

I have about 15000 QR codes stuck on equipment around the country. We wanted these QR codes to be scannable by any phone camera, and then direct to an asset record in quickbase. I pulled this off by hard coding the website "https://myrealm.quickbase.com...."

This clearly will be a problem if we switch the realm. The only idea I can think of, is to spend the next year slowly updating and changing the QR stickers. However, I think the only option would be to hard code to the new realm? Is this correct?

Otherwise, the only way I can think to do it is use the URLRoot() terminology, however I presume this would only work if you logged into QB and then somehow scanned that in a specific field?

In my head, hard coding the realm is the only way you can use the phone camera to scan the QR. Is my thinking correct?

Anyone have any ideas.....on solutions to this issue?

    You assume that it will b a problem, but it may not be.  If I take a URL for a record like this

    https://yqc.quickbase.com/db/xxxxxxx?a=td
    and change the URL to 

    https://gesco.quickbase.com/db/xxxxxxx?a=td

    Quickbase seems to ignore the the beginning of the URL and go by the table name and reverts the URL back to https://yqc.quickbase.com/db/xxxxxxx?a=td  That seems to work as long as the Realms exists.

    So as long as Quickbase retains your old old Realm and doesn't turn it off and then all those barcodes might still work. You may have to get into a discussion with somebody at Quickbase about that but give that a try or email me directly.

    Give it a try.  take any url and change from your own "mycompany"  to my Realm which is yqc and watch what happens.
