Hello all,

does anyone if it's possible/how to dynamically hide/show reports and other information in document templates? I have a case where certain reports are needed for one common type of report, while other types of reports I need to generate use different reports. At the moment any time I want to include/exclude data for a report I would have to make an entirely new document template, and then manage that going forward.

All help is appreciated, thanks!

Document templates don't have form-rule style show/hide for sections or embedded reports. One template always renders the same structure, so a single template that sometimes includes Report A and sometimes Report B isn't supported natively.

The clean approach is one template per report type, then one Formula - URL button that picks the template ID. The generate formula already has a templateId variable — wrap it in a Case (or If) on your type field:

var number templateId = Case([Report Type], "Type A", 1, "Type B", 2, 1)

Same button for users; different PDF content underneath. Template IDs are on the Document templates list and in the template builder.

If you want to keep one template, make each embedded report filter so it returns no rows when that type shouldn't include it, and use Formula - Text fields that go blank when a text block shouldn't appear. Empty reports are usually fine in PDF, but generate a test doc to confirm the spacing looks acceptable.

I'd start with separate templates — easier to maintain than one mega-template with blank holes.
