Conditional Drop down works in grid edit but not in form?

I have created a conditional drop down to assign a related record to a an item in a table. The conditional drop down works as planned in a grid edit report for the table, but not on a form with the same table data. What am I doing wrong?

    Is the field on which the CDD depends visible on the from?  If not you will need to put it on the form, and then assuming that fixes the problem, you may be able to hide the field with a form rule.

    I was just about to say that. I remember the first time I had that issue, drove me nuts for over an hour.

    In order for the conditional drop-down to "Fire", the two fields that you said have to match need to be present on the form. **If I recall, the only way I was able to hide the field and still allow the CDD to function was to create a section heading that was set to be collapsed by default.

      Hi David do you mind briefly going over how you set up the CDD for grid edit mode? I feel like I've done this before but can't remember with which fields or within which apps.
