Copying records to new table using automations with criteria based on modified formula fields

Question

I want to copy records from one table to another once these records meet certain criteria. The criteria, however, are based on formula fields. For example, one field is a formula checkbox that is automatically marked when the record's expiration date field is past today's date. The other field reflects when the record has reached the number 0 (which is the difference calculated between two other fields). Does the automation only work when the record is modified "manually" by a user? Is there a workaround if this is the case? Input is much appreciated!

Automations only fire when a record is edited. They do not fire as the result of a formula field changing with the passage of time, or when summary or lookup fields change.

In order to trigger an Automation you would could do a saved table to table import scheduled to run each night (by a scheduled Automation). It could merge the table into itself themselves merging on Record ID and filtered to only include the required records and updating a date time field to the current date/ time or perhaps setting a checkbox field.

Then trigger your Automation to copy the records on that trigger.
