Copying the Structure of the App

Hello,

I'm looking to test a couple changes to an app. I don't have access to sandbox so want to copy the structure of the apps without data. The user base for the app is fairly active, usually with 10-20 people using the apps at any one time during working hours. So I'm concerned about any momentary pauses in the live database when I go to make a copy. Could this be a problem? Will the live database be affected at all by making a copy of the structure?
