Duplicated record fills blank user fields with "[object Object]"

When duplicating a record from a new-style form, all blank user fields seem to be automatically filled with "[object Object]" upon save. The user fields are flagged to copy the value when "Copy this Record" is used. Happens in Chrome and Edge. Tested this in a new table with no pipelines or QB actions. Has anyone seen this and know of a fix?
