file type for API call

I am importing a file using an API call to an FTP site. Everything is set and works. My question is, can the file I am importing to my table be a .xls file?

In Quick base , you can import three types of files CSV, TSV, XLSX. You can Read the below link to know more about the  Excel Format Instructions.(http://help.quickbase.com/user-assistance/clean_excel_data.html)

Its better you can have CSV format file.
