Formula text field = list user fields

Why can i not include a [user] or [user list] type field in a formula text field?  I want to make the text field = user field.  

What are the limitations when working with user fields?

      I think you have to explicitly convert them to text:

      ToText([user])
      That worked perfectly.  Now how good are your webhook skills?
      I have mad webhook skills. However, tonight I am giving a 5 minute lightning talk on Service Workers at my local JavaScript meetup and all my time today is going into trying to fit my presentation into such a short time frame.
