Giving a duration a value

I am trying to give a value to a duration before a certain date, between three months and after a certain month.

      Can you share the fields that you are using to find the comparison?  Also what type of fields they are (Date or Date/Time or Time of Day)?  So we can make sure the conversions all work properly.
