how to count the remaining # of payments?

customers are allowed to select up to 10 payments as part of a schedule. I'd like to find a way to count the # of payments down or at least so the number of payments equals the actual number of payments

    The same why you count the 'total paid' amount, you can have a summary field to count the # of payments.  This will be based on your table to table relationship.
