+3I have a field on child form i would like to snap shot from a parent form, but only when the child record is created when a specific (drop down) field is set to a condition.
is that possible?

You have your snapshot field.
Your have your live lookup field.
Then just make a formula field which be exposed to users as to which of the two fields to use based on the selection.
