struggling with action for parent child relationship

My Scenario:

Parent table--> Employee
Child table--> Expenses.
Each Employee has multiple expenses.

On the parent form, I have embedded a child report which has a Formula-URL button on the report. On click of this button (which actually resides in the child table), I need to be able to update and save the parent form with any changes made on the parent form.

Any help is appreciated..

    Is there a reason that you don't want to use the native green Save button at the top of the Parent record?
