Update a field when a new record is added

Question

​I have an embedded table in which it works like this.  When the button Add AR Action is clicked it will add a record to the embedded report, which is in a different table.  The user will add new records each time a status changes on the invoice.  I need the prior record to update with an end date when the new record is added.  So user will select Add AR Action and then put their first record in with the start date.  User will then add the next action, which will add a new record, but I need a field in the previous record (Action End Date) to update with whatever the Action Start Date is for the new record.  Can anyone help?

Hi Amber!You've asked a fairly complicated question, but what you're describing is very possible.I have a video that may help that outlines the use of a summary field to get the record ID of the last child record to be used in an API button.
