Will changing text multiple choice options break formula's

Question

I currently have a "status" field in my tasks table with the options being Active, Future, Complete, Cancelled. My users requested I change Active to Assigned and add an in progress option.

I am using Active in several reports and elsewhere to filter tasks. If I rename Active to Assigned will that change cascade throughout or is it going to break everything? If it breaks everything, can I see where it is referenced so I know all the places it needs to change? I know it is in automations, filters, reports, buttons via formula url, etc.

It will break everything.

You need to do this off hours. Then carefully walk down the Usage Tab on the field properties to fix every place it's used.

I'm not actually sure if the usage tab can "see" the Usage on Automations.
