Text Multi-line when parsing creates a return or LF - what's the deal?

Multi-line shows great in raw/original field form. But I am trying to parse the data into another field and it shows the text with a <CR> or <LF> 

Example: RAW/ORIGINAL looks like this:
Complaint Note Fraction

Data copied to formula text field
Complaint Note
Fraction
^---NOTICE THE 2nd LINE

Not sure why this is happening.
